In 2015, Orange County lead the state of Florida in juvenile arrests. The majority of those arrests were felonies charged to black boys. In this five-part series, Renata Sago documented Orange County’s complex system for handling kids who commit crimes. The stories were told through the lens of three black men who were charged with felonies as children. View the five-part series here. The series was featured nationally via NPR’s Criminal Justice Collaborative and The Takeaway. Read Renata Sago’s editorial piece, which was published in the Orlando Sentinel, here.
